Simply Because the Lord Loves You
Week Eleven | Fifty-Two 3.20.21
You know that feeling you get when …
You’ve been chosen
You’ve been seen
You’ve been heard
You’ve been celebrated
You’ve been valued
for your good name
for your hard and hidden work
for your passionate voice
for your unique gifting
for your selfless wisdom.
It’s a special and deserving kind of feeling to matter like this. It validates *what we do - and that’s an important part of our enduring ability to keep on carrying on.
But what if …
You’ve been chosen
You’ve been seen
You’ve been heard
You’ve been celebrated
You’ve been valued
simply because the Lord loves you.
For His good Name, known throughout the ages
For His hard and holy work, anchoring a soul through any storm
For His passionate voice, whispering worth and beauty even on the ugly days
For His unique gifting, bursting with joy, especially in the unseen
For His selfless wisdom, unapologetically always pointing us back to the Cross and an empty grave.
It’s a freeing, undeserving kind of feeling to matter like this. It motivates *why we do what we do - and that’s an indispensable part of our every day living on, for the glory of God.
Because sometimes, you just feel small and
not very
chosen
seen
heard
celebrated
or valued.
And you’re going to need to remember the Truth that actually, you very much ARE.
Not because of what you can do.
Not because of who you are.
Rather,
simply because the Lord loves you.
“For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.
The Lord did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations! Rather, it was
simply [because] the Lord loves you,
and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the Lord rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.” Deuteronomy 7:6-8
I don’t know about you, or the beloved wanderers called Israelites, but a breath of deep grace washes over me when I realize all I have to do to carry on and live on ~ no matter what I feel ~ is to simply show up
to be loved by God.
