You Hear My Every Sigh
Week Nineteen | Fifty-Two 5.15.21
You know that feeling you get when a special someone (your friend, your parent, your child, your spouse…) can simply look at your eyes and interpret your heart, without you even saying a word?
It’s a gift of grace to be deeply known, seen, and loved.
But the reality is ~ no other human can ever perfectly know, see, or love another human.
Not even a momma. As *much* as we know, see, and love our children, there is One who does so without ever getting it wrong.
Because He is the knitter of our inmost beings. (Psalm 139) And that means we don’t have to work so hard to hold it all together for those we love so deeply ~ or for ourselves.
“You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh.” Psalms 38:9
I don’t remember exactly how old I was when this promise left its forever imprint on me, but it was an undeniable moment where I fell deeply in love with God as my everything.
Father.
Friend.
Husband.
Counselor.
Comforter.
Healer.
Teacher.
Leader.
Boss.
All I have to do is sigh. And He hears. No matter where I am or what it’s about, this God who knows me best is fully prepared to give me full relief.
So go ahead, close your eyes and sigh ~ with hope. Because a long exhale can actually stretch your capacity to breathe in free again.
Don’t worry, you won’t catch Him by surprise. And you definitely won’t overwhelm Him. After all, He has what it takes to breathe life into dust.
