There Remains Yet Very Much

Week Thirteen | Fifty-Two 4.2.21

The older I get, the more I appreciate the days that less of me ache. (Notice I said days and not parts because, well, everything hurts at some point or another these days, lol! :)

The older I get, the more I also appreciate the purpose that God holds for every single day ~ and part ~ of a life fully committed to Him.

Take Joshua and Caleb, two men once young and valiant warriors - now “old and advanced in years.” At least on the outside and, likely, in the same places that ache on any body that ages. They were human after all.

However, God saw them not as a number but as a necessary part to fulfilling His promises.

To Joshua, he says,

“...there remains yet very much land to possess.”

Basically, you’ve got work to do sir!

And Caleb, remembering his younger days of wholehearted devotion to God declares,

“I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.”

Basically, I might be eighty-five years old, but don’t count me out!!

So ~ to all my forty-something friends, the empty-nesters, the gray-splendor ones, the retired grandparents, the seniors in their golden years ~ hear the One who made you and never stops calling you say,

there remains yet very much!

You are as strong as Christ in you!! And there’s still great glory-work to be done, until He calls us Home.
