Happy Birthday in Heaven

More often than not, the One who knows all things doesn’t offer a clear explanation for all the sad things, the broken things, the hard things.

Rather, He invites us into the mystery of a thing called nearness - as He tenderly walks and talks with us through every little thing.

The person of God ~ Jesus Christ ~ becomes our personal Friend.

God gives God.

Because the glory of God rests not in answering our deepest questions. The glory of God comes through His divine and mysterious provision, right in the middle of our most devastating places.

I don’t know a lot, and I don’t think we’re actually supposed to in the eternal scheme of things. But one thing I do know,

God is with us,

throughout all the things.

May we never stop looking for Him, even and especially when we don’t understand Him.

Yesterday was hard.

Yesterday was sweet.

Yesterday we cried, we remembered, and we celebrated the life of a gentle-giant. One we had the honor of calling dad, grandad, friend, and a Jack-of-all-trades (he literally could do anything, well at least he believed he could and we kinda did too.:)

His death still doesn’t make sense to our aching hearts. He told us just a few months ago, that wherever his family was, that was his happy place.

We lost much.

And yet, we gained the gift hidden in Mystery as we continue to draw near to the One who holds all things together. The One who I’m certain sang happy over our beloved yesterday, right along with us.
